Manager Experience: Roles & Permissions

Introduction

Roles and Permissions are used to define the content a Manager can access in the Manager Experience.  This article provides an overview of the permissions for the Default Manager Role, with predetermined settings and instructions on creating a Custom Manager Role.

Important Note

The Default Manager Role has all the permissions available in the initial release enabled by default.

In the future, when new functionality is added to the Manager Experience, the default Manager Role will also have all new permissions enabled.

Please be aware of this when you assign the default role to your users. We recommend creating a custom manager role if you want to control access to new functionality as it becomes available.

Default Manager Role

A predetermined Default Manager Role is available in the Absorb LMS called Manager. This role has a lock icon on the left-hand side, and it cannot be edited as it contains all the standard permissions available in the Manager Experience.

Custom Manager Role

A Custom Manager Role can be created by following these steps:

Step 1: Navigate to Manager Roles in the Users icon section of the left-hand menu.

Step 2: Select Add Manager Role from the Actions Menu on the right-hand side or select an existing custom Manager Role and select Edit Manager Role from the Actions Menu.

Step 3: Select the Permissions you would like to give this new Custom Manager Role and click Save.

Note: A manager role that does not have the Users – View permission option selected will result in no content being accessible in the Manager Experience.
