Instructions: How to Build a Leaderboard
Step 1
Navigate to the Leaderboard Report page by clicking the Engage button from the Admin Menu and choose Leaderboards from the sub-menu. You will be routed to the Leaderboard Report page.
Step 2
From the Leaderboard Report page, click the Leaderboard button from the right-hand context menu. You will be routed to the Add Leaderboard form.
Step 3
Configuring General Settings
The first section (tab) of the Add Leaderboard form is labeled General. Here you will configure the following:
- Name: Enter the Leaderboard's Name. The Name identifies the Leaderboard to Learners and Admins.
- This is visible in both the Admin and Learner experiences.

- Description: Enter a description to provide details about the Leaderboard in this field.
- This information is not shown in the Learner Interface and is used for administrative identification only.

- Start Date: Click the Calendar icon button to open the date picker tool and select the Start Date.
- The Start Date is when points will be included and calculated in the Leaderboard.
- Admins can update the Start Date for a Leaderboard at any time. After edits are saved, points and rankings will be adjusted.
- End Date: Click the Calendar icon button to open the date picker tool and select the End Date.
- The End Date when points will stop being included and calculated in the Leaderboard.
- Admins can update the End Date for a Leaderboard at any time. After edits are saved, points and rankings will be adjusted.
- Publish Date: Click the Calendar icon button to open the date picker tool and select the Publish Date.
- The Publish Date is when Learners will be able to view the Leaderboard. This date does not impact the points calculated.

- Expiry Date: Click the Calendar icon button to open the date picker tool and select the Expiry Date.
- The Publish Date is when Learners will no longer be able to view the Leaderboard. This date does not impact the points calculated.

- Author: The Author field will automatically populate the name of the Admin who initially creates the Leaderboard.
- You can change this value by clicking the field and selecting a new name from the drop-down menu.

- Is Active: Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
- Active = The Leaderboard is available to learners.
- Inactive = The Leaderboard is not available to learners and is only visible to Admins in the Admin Interface.
Step 4
Configuring Availability Settings
The second section (tab) of the Add Leaderboard form is labeled Availability. Here is where you establish rules to identify which learners will have visibility of the Leaderboard.
Default settings will automatically include all users within your Absorb LMS environment.
- Click the Add Rule button to create and apply Availability Rules to the Leaderboard.
Step 5
Click the Save button to save and close the Leaderboard. You will return to the Leaderboard Reports page.
