Disable Video Seeking

If you’re using Video Lessons in your Online Courses, having the ability to disable seeking for this type of Learning Object helps to ensure your Users have watched videos entirely. However, once a Learner has watched a video in full, they should also be able to scan through the video to review the parts of the content they find interesting.

This article demonstrates how to configure the desired behavior on the Course Settings page.

Lesson Player Behavior

The Disable Seeking toggle controls when and to what extent the Learners can seek through the Video Lesson timeline. Seeking is the process of clicking a point in the video timeline and moving forwards or backwards through the video accordingly.

By default, it is set to OFF. In this case, the Learner can move along the video timeline at will. Should they move forward all the way to the end of the lesson, it will be marked as completed, no matter whether they watched it in full or not.

If set to ON, moving along the video timeline will be limited. The Learner will be able to seek through the content only up to the point in time they have already watched.

Disable Seeking set to ON reveals an additional setting: 'Allow seeking after lesson is complete'. This enables alternate behavior where after the Learner has completed the video, they can seek through it freely.
