Absorb LMS actually tracks scores at three different stages:
- The overall course score
- The score attained for each learning object in that course
- The score attained for each attempt at each learning object
Several of Absorb's reports present the admin with the overall course score, and for that to be calculated you'll need to set up your SCORM, Tin Can, or AICC learning objects to "pass" their scores along. When editing a SCORM, Tin Can, or AICC learning object there are two settings that control this:
- Lesson Contains Assessment - Enabling this will tell the LMS this learning object has a quiz element to it that will pass a score that you want calculated towards the overall course score. If this is disabled the LMS will still track scores for the learning object and the attempts within it, but reporting on those scores is much more limited in the admin interface. If this is disabled, no score will be passed to any fields that report on course-level score.
- Assessment Weight - In scenarios where multiple quizzes exist in the same course, you may want to factor each of their scores towards your overall course score. Assessment weight allows you to determine how heavily each quiz will impact your overall course score. If this is accidentally set to 0, no score will be passed to any fields that report on course-level score.
Of course, due to the nature of third-party authored content there are always edge-case scenarios where certain SCORM, AICC, or Tin Can content is not passing the correct data to the LMS.
