While the course due date and course expiry date are similar in name, they offer differing functionality and interactions with your users.

  • COURSE DUE DATE sets a "soft" expectation that the user will complete the course by the date provided. However, when this due date passes, the course is still available to the user to take and complete as necessary. Due date can be set to a specific date or a number of days following enrollment in the course.
  • COURSE EXPIRY DATE is similar, but once this date is surpassed the lessons in the course will no longer be available to the user. They will be replaced by a message indicating that the course has expired. Expiry date can also be set to a specific date or a number of days following enrollment in the course.
Both options provide greater ability to communicate expectations to your learners, as well as control over the time frame that your content is available.
