What Are Absorb's Upload File Size Limits?

Absorb's File Manager restricts the max file size per-upload differently in the Learner and Admin interfaces. To be clear: this article is specifically referring to the maximum size per file uploaded to the LMS, not the capacity of your File Manager.

Special Characters in File Names

File names containing special characters or accented letters may cause errors when uploading files to the platform. Before uploading, ensure that file names do not include any of the following characters:

`   '   -   &   <   >

Accented letters (for example, é, ñ, ü) should also be avoided in file names. Rename the file using only standard alphanumeric characters before attempting to upload again.

Administrator Interface

The max file size that can be uploaded using the File Manager is 2GB for any file type. It is recommended that for any files larger than 2GB, that they then be broken down into separate files of a smaller size, and spread across multiple Lessons/Resources.

Learner Interface

Course Uploads allow users to upload files to the LMS, with a max upload limit of 1GB. If the Learner attempts to upload a file larger than 1GB, they will receive an error message that the "File is larger than the allowed size", and the upload will fail.
