April 5, 2016: Absorb 5 Hotfix

This announcement is to notify you that we have discovered an unintended side effect to one of the changes introduced in our most recent Absorb 5.29 release this past weekend. New users, created via the Absorb RESTful API, were encountering issues logging in to the LMS for the first time. Upon discovery of the issue today we have promptly released a hotfix that has resolved the issue moving forward.

The issue had to do with password encryption after a successful new user creation request to the API. Passwords were improperly being double encrypted, and would lead to the LMS' inability to authenticate these users with the passwords used to create the accounts.

Any users added via traditional means in Absorb LMS (admin-created, enrollment key signup, shopping cart purchases) are unaffected, and this issue only affects new users created via the API between Sunday April 3 (8pm MDT) and Tuesday April 5 (8pm MDT). Finally, any users prompted to set their password in the standard Absorb new user email will have no issue doing so, nor with their subsequent logins. However, any integrations relying on the distribution of the password originally submitted via the API will need to have their users passwords updated, either by the learner themselves (Forgot Password feature) or by an administrator.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and welcome any questions or concerns you may have regarding this issue, either in the comments below or via a new support ticket.

January 18, 2016: Absorb 5 Hotfix

We have discovered an issue that was inadvertently introduced by last evening's 5.25 release that is resulting in login issues into the learner interface for some department administrators. We are receiving reports of both an inability to see the learner dashboard after logging in, as well as 500 errors in the learner interface. After investigating the problem, we have confirmed that this is limited to department administrators (with user management permissions below the top-level department) who are attempting to log in to the learner interface. Access to the admin interface should not be an issue, and learner-only users should not encounter any issues logging into the learner interface.

We are planning to hotfix this item at 10:30am MST today, and will promptly update this post as soon as this has been released. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused in the interim.

January 4, 2016: Absorb 5 Hotfix

An update to this post will be made once the fix has been deployed.

If you have any questions or are experiencing issues yourself, please open a support ticket for further assistance.
