What File Types Can I Upload?

Applies to: Starter, Pro, Plus, & Enterprise Plans

File Manager

Regardless of permitted File Types, Absorb will actually allow you to upload any type of File, at anywhere in the Admin UI where the File Manager interface is available.

The only exception to this is with EXE files which will not work, even if the extension is renamed in order to try and fool the File Manager. Be advised though, if the File you transfer does not match any of permitted types for your current location, then you won't see it displayed in your Files list after you have finished uploading it if not using the main File Manager.

It is important to understand that it still is exactly where you put it, but if you want to access it again then you will need to do so via the main File Manager from the Setup module. This behavior has been intentionally incorporated into Absorb so that you only ever interact with the permitted File Types, for where you are in the LMS, thus ensuring that you always only work with the right Files.

Something else to remember is that while you can upload any File type, not all will work natively in the browser being used. PowerPoint files, for example, need to be downloaded and opened in the appropriate application in order to be viewed.
