The argument in favour of making this a regular practice of yours is because...not saving one of your Report Layouts (especially one that might have taken you a lot of effort to get right) could end up costing you something - specifically, a lot of your valuable time if you discarded it and then realized you actually needed it again.

As long as you take the time to name / manage your Layouts properly they'll always be handy if you want them. And then once you are completely sure that you don't need them anymore, you can go back and delete them for good.
