There are two ways how content can be searched for within learner interface. Firstly, a user can search for a content using the search icon in the header across all pages. Secondly, a user can search for a content using the filter panel on the right-hand side.
Using the search icon in the header across all pages
By using this option, the following content can be searched for:
Polls and Surveys
The search function will automatically look for the content that matches your search term
Using the filter panel on the right-hand side
The filter panel uses a different searching functionality and refines the search within each of the menu item that makes the content visible to a learner. For example: in "My Courses" item
All courses are shown for a user no matter what the status of the course is, however by clicking on the filter logo with a + on the left-hand side, a user has more possibilities within the searched item.
By clicking on the advanced filters, the page automatically refreshes to give a user the result.
A user has options to filter for the courses by enabling/disabling the toggle for:
- Show Categories all the courses that are shown in categories
- Show completed all the courses that are completed
Another option is to filter by a course type by choosing:
- Online course
- Instructor Led course
If you are not sure what the type of the course, you look for, is you can also use a filter for:
- Course name by typing the name of the course.
By choosing a dropped down menu in Advanced Filter a user can filter courses in relation to
- Venue location
- Venue type
Next, a user can search for a course by choosing a dropped down menu on the right-hand side. This filter includes the following: Courses to be searched by:
- Date enrolled
- Recent activity
- Expiry date
- Alphabetical order
- Mandatory courses
As an addition to filters an icon next to it provides a user with a three different card views and a calendar.
Calendar gives a user an option to filter for a course based on:
- Venue Location by choosing the Country from the dropped down menu
Another option is to filter based on either the type of a course:
In summary, searching functionalities slightly vary in the numbers of filters provided for the items like Catalog and Resources but the logic remains the same.
