Learner Experience

Session Enrollment After It Has Started

There may be some cases where you require your learners to enroll in an Instructor Led Course session after it has started - for example just in time training. You can now configure sessions to allow enrollment after the session start date.

  • An Enrollment End Date must be provided within a given session for a learner to enroll in it after it's begun. For example, a session could be set up for November 1 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM. The Enrollment End Date could be configured for November 1 at 9:30AM - this will allow learners to enroll in this session until 9:30. If no Enrollment End Date is provided the existing behavior will occur where a learner cannot enroll in a session after it has started.
  • You will have to configure each session you want to allow enrollment after the session start date.

Customize The Font Used In The Learner Experience

As of this release you have the ability to customize the font used within the Learner Experience. This allows you to further customize the look and feel of the interface in a way that best suits your needs.

  • A new section within the Theme tab in Learner Management has been added where an Admin with appropriate permissions can configure two fonts:
    • Header: this font applies to all page and content headings such as course description headings and transcript headings.
    • Body: this font applies to all body text such as course descriptions, dashboard tile descriptions, news articles and transcript table values.
  • To use a Google Font, enter the name of the font without punctuation. For Example, Raleway or Roboto Condensed.
  • Only one font can be provided for each area. If a font is not recognized it will fall back to the existing fonts used in the Learner Experience.

Learner Mobile App

Absorb Learn mobile will have officially launched to all clients on October 29.

The Absorb Learn mobile app allows your Learners to access the Learner Experience through their iOS and Android mobile devices.

Once your System Admin configures the Absorb Learn mobile app for your portal, your Learners will be able to access the app through their iOS and Android devices, including phones, iPads and tablets. The branding of the Absorb Learn app will appear consistent with their web Learner Experience, and Learners will see any department specific branding, your logo, and the highlight and status colors displayed on your web Learner Experience.  Learners will be able to sign in through the Service Provider Initiated SAML SSO settings that have been configured in your web LMS or by entering the LMS URL and their typical username / password.

When Learners are signed in to the Absorb Learn mobile app, they will have access to your browsable Course Catalog and they will be able to access an Online Course or Curriculum with lessons that are:

  • File-based Object lessons (e.g. PDF, DOCX, XLSX,etc.) housed in or outside your LMS
  • File-based Video lessons (e.g. MP4) housed in or outside your LMS
  • eLearning created in SCORM 1.2 & 2004 lessons
  • TinCan/xAPI lessons

Learners can access these lessons online or offline through this app by downloading it.  If Learners complete a course offline, they can synchronize their progress once they have connectivity.

More details can be found in admin & learner focused articles here.
