Admin Dashboard Widgets

Legacy Dashboard Widgets are the original Dashboard Widgets available in Absorb LMS prior to the release of Admin Hub. They remain fully supported and visible on existing Dashboards, with no planned deprecation. This article describes each Legacy Widget type and the Role Permissions required to display its data.

Starred Widgets (those marked with a * symbol) update on an hourly basis, though this can vary depending on server load. Widgets without a star use live data. Legacy Widgets are not affected by the Global Filters available in Admin Hub.

For information on the modern Dashboard experience, including the new Widget gallery, Global Filters, and Templates, see Admin Hub.

System Admin Required

An Admin cannot modify Admin Dashboard templates, regardless of the Permissions applied to their Role. Only a System Admin account has these permissions.

Legacy Widget Types

Each section below describes a different Legacy Widget and how it displays data on the Admin Dashboard. Not every Widget needs to be used, only those that make sense for your LMS.

Widget Distinctions

Analyze Widgets are distinct from the Widgets associated with Reports in the Admin Experience or Admin Dashboard. The Widgets described in this article are the Legacy variants, and may share names with newer Widgets available through Admin Hub.

Course Enrollment Status by Course

This Widget displays details on up to five (5) selected Courses to show how Users in specific Departments are progressing and completing training based on their enrollment status. Click an Enrollment Status at the top of the Widget to remove status counts from the graph.

Graph type suggestions:

  • Use a stacked bar graph for multiple Enrollment Statuses and multiple Course data sets.
  • Use a bar graph (not stacked) for a single Course with multiple Enrollments.
  • Use a bar graph for multiple Courses with single-digit enrollment statuses.

Tip: This Widget includes Inactive Users unless they are filtered out on the Widget directly.

Course Enrollment Status by Department

This Widget displays information on up to five (5) selected Departments to show how they are progressing through particular types or categories of Courses. The Widget can also be filtered to show completions from one or more Departments for a specific Course.

Click one or more of the Enrollment Statuses at the top of the Widget to remove status counts from the graph. Select a Department name to drill down to any Sub-department and its specific course enrollment data.

Graph type suggestions:

  • Use a stacked bar graph for multiple Enrollment Statuses and multiple Department data sets. Consider horizontal or vertical alignment depending on the placeholder height and width.
  • Use a bar graph (not stacked) for a single Department with multiple Enrollments.
  • Use a bar graph for multiple Courses with single-digit enrollment statuses.

Tip: This Widget includes Inactive Users unless they are filtered out on the Widget directly.

Competencies

The Competencies Widget counts every time an active User earns a Competency or increases their Competency Level. For example, if the same User acquires Competency Level 1, then Level 2, and currently holds Level 3, the Widget counts this as 3 occurrences. However, the Competencies Widget only displays the current Competency Level. You can add up to five (5) Competencies.

For the best display, place this Widget in a vertical or horizontal placeholder.

Saved Reports

This Widget displays the Saved Report Layouts and filters created by the Admin, as well as those shared with the Admin by their peers. The Widget shows the name provided by the Admin, the name of the Report page, the date the Report was saved, and the option to download the Report.

Some Reports and Admin pages still use the A5 interface. These Reports are not visible from the Saved Reports Widget in the Admin Refresh interface. Admins can view Saved Report Layouts for these pages on the specific Report page, or on the Saved Reports page in the Setup menu. These Reports become available in the Saved Reports Widget once they are updated to the Admin Refresh interface. The following table lists these Reports and pages:

Logins

This Widget shows Admins the peak times for LMS usage based on User logins. Depending on the filter applied to the Widget and the amount of content displayed, try different placeholders to find the best fit. The filter in the top right corner of the Widget allows Admins to change the timeframe of the data.

Tip: This Widget is only visible to the default System Admin and Admin roles. Custom Roles cannot be configured to display this Widget.
