Introduction

Use the Assessment Learning Object to test your Learner's comprehension of Course content.

This article includes instructions on adding an Assessment Type Learning Object to an Online Course.

How to Add an Assessment Learning Object 

The following instructions begin from the Syllabus Course Settings section of an Online Course build.

 

1. Click the Add Learning Object button

  • The button is located in the Outline Chapter 1 section of the Syllabus Course Settings block.
  • This action will open a pop-up window.

Note: You can rename Chapter Names. Chapter "#" is the default naming convention assigned.

2. Select the Assessment Learning Object Type

  • From the Add Learning Object pop-up window, choose the Assessment option by clicking its radio button or icon, then click the Next button.

3.  Assessment Settings

Assessment Learning Object settings are divided into four sections: Details, Options, Messages, and Questions.

 

Setting Section: Details

  • Name: Enter the Assessment Name.  This is a required field.  The Name is visible in both the Admin and Learner interface.

  • Description: Optional: Enter a Description.  The Description provides details about the Learning Object.  It is visible in both the Admin and Learner interface.

  • Assessment is Weighted:  Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = The Assessment will require an Assessment Weight and Grade to Pass value. 
    • If OFF = N/A

Setting Section: Options

  • Allow Multiple Attempts: Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = Learners can attempt the Assessment multiple times.
    • If OFF = N/A

  • Allow Failure: Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = Learners can earn a "Failed" status for the Assessment.
    • If OFF = The Course will remain "In-Progress" until the Assessment is completed, earning a passing score.

  • Randomize Question Order:  Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = The Assessment Questions will be presented in random order.
    • If OFF = N/A

  • Randomize Answer Order:  Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = The Assessment Answer options will be presented in random order.
    • If OFF = N/A

  • Show Answers:  Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = The correct answer is shown after a Learner answers a question.
    • If OFF = N/A

  • Show Feedback:  Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = A response for each question is shown after it has been answered.
    • If OFF = N/A

  • Times Assessment: Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = The Assessment is timed and will expire after the specified duration.
    • If OFF = N/A

  • Single Page Layout:  Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
    • If ON = The Assessment will be displayed in a single-page layout.
    • If OFF = N/A

      • Show Navigation: Click the toggle button to change the status setting.
        • If ON = The Assessment navigation bar is shown.
        • If OFF = N/A

Setting Section: Messages

  • Introduction Message: Optional: The message entered into this field will be presented to Learners before they begin the Assessment.

  • Post Message:  Optional: The message entered into this field will be presented to Learners once they have successfully completed (passed) the Assessment.

  • Fail Message: Optional: The message entered into this field will be presented to Learners if they fail the Assessment.

  • Questions: Learn more about questions and options here.
 4. Click the Save button to save the Learning Object and close the pop-up window.
