The Mandatory Courses Summary Email Digest is designed to help Learners stay on top of their required training while reducing inbox overload. Instead of receiving multiple reminder emails for each outstanding Course, Learners will a single, consolidated summary email listing all their mandatory Courses that require attention. This approach increases engagement, boosts Course completion rates, and minimizes email fatigue.
The Mandatory Courses Email Digest uses Deep Links to direct Learners to Mandatory Courses in the Learner Experience. Deep Links require specific encoding to work as expected when using IDP (Identity Provider) initiated SSO - for this reason, we recommend using SP (Service Provider) initiated SSO when using the Mandatory Courses Email Digest. Learners will need to otherwise be already logged in to Absorb for links to work correctly when using IDP initiated SSO.

Feature Details
This email template is available in the Message Templates Report in the Admin Experience. To view this new Template, access the Admin Experience and follow these steps:
- Click on the Setup tab in the left-hand menu.
- Click on Message Templates.
- In the Message Templates Report, click on the filter icon above the Templates list.
- In the Parameter field, select Type.
- In the Value field, scroll down and select Mandatory Courses Digest Email.
- Click Add Filter.
- Select the Template and click Edit Template from the Actions menu.
This Template lists all Mandatory Courses a Learner needs to complete. The list of Courses included is based on the selected email cadence:
- Weekly: Courses due/expiring within the next 7 days.
- Bi-weekly: Courses due/expiring within the next 14 days.
- Monthly: Courses due/expiring within the next 30 days.
Overdue Courses are always displayed at the top of the list.
Example Email
Below you can see a sample email sent to a Learner with overdue and upcoming Mandatory Courses:
To make it easier to preview the appearance, there is a Send Test Email option in the Template Editor which sends an email with mock data to provided addresses.
Please note that the way the email is displayed will depend on the email client settings and IT policies related to images (i.e., if they are allowed by default or not).
Admin Configuration Options
Mandatory Digest Email configuration is available in the Admin Experience. To access these settings from the Admin Experience, consider the following:
- Click on the Account menu in the upper right corner of the page.
- Click Client Settings.
- On the Client Settings page, scroll down to Email Digest tile and click on it.
- Toggle ON the Enable Mandatory Courses Digest Email option. Additional options will become available. These include:
- Email cadence: Weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
- Send day: Specific day of the week or month.
- Send time: Specific time of day.

Recipients:
- All learners with outstanding mandatory courses (default).
- Specific groups.
- Specific departments.

Branding color: Option to set the color of the button displayed in the email that takes the Learner to the course details. By default, this option is set to the primary color of the Learner Experience theme.
- Once you have made your selections, make sure to Save.
Email Digest Delivery
Learners will not receive the summary email if they have no Mandatory Courses due within the upcoming period (week, 2 weeks, or month, depending on cadence). Note that Learners cannot unsubscribe from the Email Digest themselves.
Example Use Case
A Learner with three outstanding Mandatory Courses (one overdue, one due in 5 days, and one in progress due in 10 days) will receive a single summary email listing all three Courses, with the overdue Course at the top. Each Course entry includes a direct link to start or resume the Course.
