Standalone Release

This standalone release introduces image replacement and support for image-embedded PDFs as Course sources for AI Block Page Courses.

All Regions:Monday, June 15th 2026
A Note: Deployment timelines are as per the release timelines above. New features may take up to one week to become available in your environment after deployment.

This release introduces two updates to image handling for AI Block Courses in Absorb Create. The Replace button allows authors to swap any AI-selected image directly in the Course Preview before exiting the AI authoring flow. In addition, when a PDF is uploaded as the Course source document, relevant images embedded in that PDF are may extracted and placed in relevant image blocks during Course generation. See Images from Uploaded PDF Source Documents below for more details.

Both features are available to Absorb Create authors with AI enabled and apply to AI Block Courses only. For background on AI Block Courses in Absorb Create, see:

Updated Features

This section describes the two new image-handling features available in AI Block Courses in Absorb Create.

Replacing Images in AI Block Courses

Previously, Course Authors who wanted to swap an AI-selected image in a Block Course had no inline option to do so before exiting the AI authoring flow. Replacing an image required either regenerating the Course or editing it after clicking Create Course.

Feature Availability

This feature is available to Absorb Create authors with AI enabled. It is not available to standalone Create clients. Note that the Replace button is disabled during Course generation. Images can only be replaced once Course generation is complete.

With this release, Course Authors can hover over any image block in the AI Block Course Preview, and a Replace button will appear. Clicking Replace opens the Media Library modal, where authors can select an image from their existing Create Media Library, upload an image, or search for a stock photo using the Unsplash Library. The preview updates instantly and the change saves automatically. The Replace button works on both standalone image blocks and image-and-text paired blocks.

Unsplash Rate Limit

If the Unsplash Library tab displays a Too Many Requests To Image Library error, the Unsplash API rate limit has been exceeded. Switch to the My Images tab to select from the Media Library, or wait briefly and retry.

Images from Uploaded PDF Source Documents

When a Course Author uploads a PDF as the source document for an AI Block Course, relevant images from the PDF may be extracted and placed in image blocks throughout the generated Course. Image extraction is selective with the AI prioritizing PDF images such as process diagrams and flowcharts when they are highly relevant to the content and no suitable alternative is available from the Unsplash library.

Accessing This Feature

PDF image extraction is available to Absorb Create authors with AI enabled. It applies to AI Block Courses only. Slide-based AI Courses always use Unsplash or AI-generated images regardless of whether a PDF is uploaded.

The extraction and placement process runs automatically during Course generation. Course Authors are not required to take any additional steps beyond uploading the PDF and generating the Course.

Not All PDF Images Will Appear

Images that are too small, classified as decorative, or for which no relevant Course Block exists are not placed. This is expected behavior, not an error. If an important image from the source PDF does not appear in the generated Course, Course Authors can use the Replace button on any image block to manually select or upload it.
