This article explains how to display a cookie consent banner in the Learner Experience (LE) by adding a OneTrust Script ID to a Department's settings. The banner is controlled at the Department level, so you can apply it to some or all of your Departments.
This functionality is turned off by default. If you would like this functionality enabled in your Portal, reach out to your Client Success representative or submit a ticket to our Support team.
How the Cookie Banner Works
The cookie banner is provided by OneTrust, a third-party consent management provider. When the feature is enabled for your Portal, each Department can hold its own OneTrust Script ID. Absorb uses that ID to load the OneTrust banner for Learners in that Department.
Because the setting is applied per Department, only Learners in a Department that has a OneTrust Script ID configured will see the banner. If a Department does not have a Script ID set, the Learners in that Department will not see the banner. To display the banner across your organization, add the Script ID to every applicable Department.
Add a OneTrust Script ID to a Department
Once the feature is enabled for your Portal, a System Admin can add a OneTrust Script ID when editing a Department from the Admin Experience (AE). Follow the steps below for each Department that should display the banner.
- From the Admin Experience, click the Users menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- Click Departments to open the Departments report.
- Locate the Department you want to update, then open it for editing.
- In the Department settings, locate the Cookie Banner section.
- In the OneTrust Script ID field, enter the OneTrust Script ID for the banner you want to display.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Repeat these steps for each Department that should display the banner. To create a new Department, see How to Add a Department.
