New features rolling out across regions!

All Regions:Tuesday, September 2nd, 2026
A Note: Deployment timelines are as per the release timelines above. New features may take up to one week to become available in your environment after deployment.

This release note covers two enhancements arriving on September 2, 2026: the ability to share saved report layouts as permission-checked deep links, and the ability to backdate task completion dates. Both features become available on the same day, per the regional deployment timeline above.

Share Saved Report Layouts as Deep Links

Report deep links lets any Admin copy a clean, shareable URL that opens a report exactly as it was saved, with columns, filters, sort order, and pagination already applied. Recipients land on the right data immediately, without navigating Admin reporting from scratch. Deep links are permission-checked every time they are opened, so recipients must be signed in to Absorb and have access to the report.

A deep link restores the full saved state of the report, not just its address. Each link carries the following:

  • Saved Layout: column selection and arrangement.
  • Filters: all active filter values as configured in the saved layout.
  • Sort Order: column and direction.
  • Pagination: page size.
  • Live Data: the link always loads the latest data. It is not a static snapshot.

Report Deep Links is enabled once at the Portal level from Client Settings. This is a one-time setup performed by a System Admin.

  1. In the Admin Experience, open Client Settings.
  2. Locate the Reports card, labeled "Reports" with the description "Manage report settings for your organization."
  3. Click the Reports card to open its settings.

  4. Set the Share Report Layouts by Link toggle to ON.

  5. Click Save.

Portal-Level Setting

This toggle enables the feature for your entire Portal. Individual links are still permission-checked for each recipient every time they are opened.

Once the feature is enabled, you can copy a link from any report that has a saved layout applied. A deep link always corresponds to a saved layout, so links cannot be generated from an unsaved, in-progress view. There are two ways to copy a link.

Option A: From the Report Layout Dialog

Use this method when you are already working inside the report.

  1. Open any core Admin report.
  2. Apply a saved layout, or create and save one if you have not already.
  3. Click the Reports Layout icon.
  4. Click the copy link icon, which resembles a paper clip, under to the layout name.

  5. Paste the link wherever you need it. It is now on your clipboard.

Option B: From the Saved Reports Report

Use this method to retrieve links for previously saved layouts without opening the report itself.

  1. Navigate to the Saved Reports report in the Admin Experience.
  2. Click a saved report row to select it.
  3. Click Copy Link from the Actions panel.
  4. Paste the link wherever you need it. It is now on your clipboard.

Saved Layout Required

The Copy Link action is only available when a saved layout is selected. If you do not see the icon, save the layout first.

Paste the copied link anywhere recipients will encounter it. The link opens the saved report layout directly, with no navigation required on their end. You can use deep links in the following places:

  • Admin dashboard HTML widgets: embed the URL so managers land on the right report directly from the dashboard. This is the primary use case.
  • Rich text widgets: hyperlink descriptive text to the report URL.
  • Email: include the link in a message body.
  • Messages and chat: paste into Slack, Teams, or any internal messaging tool.
  • Browser address bar: paste and open directly, which is useful for bookmarking your own frequently used views.

What Recipients See

When a recipient opens a deep link, Absorb validates their role/permissions and loads the report with the saved layout pre-applied. The following table outlines what to expect in each scenario.

Scenario What Happens
Authorized recipient The report opens immediately with the saved layout, including columns, filters, sort, and pagination, pre-applied. Data is live and current.
Recipient lacks report access The recipient sees a permission-denied message. No report data is shown.
Saved layout is deleted The recipient sees a message indicating the link is no longer active.
Recipient is not in a Group the layout was shared with The report opens, but the title given to the shared layout is not visible. A generic placeholder title is shown instead. This is intentional and is a security feature of the Share with Groups feature.

Permission-Checked on Every Open

Access is re-validated each time the link is opened. A recipient who loses report access after the link was shared will be denied on their next attempt.

Keep the following limitations in mind when using report deep links.

  • Saved layout required: deep links cannot be generated from an unsaved, in-progress view. Save the layout first.
  • Authenticated access only: links are not publicly accessible. Recipients must be signed in to Absorb and have access to the report.
  • No link management interface: to revoke or disable a link, delete the saved layout it refers to.

Backdate Task Completion Dates

When marking a task Complete or Failed, Admins can now set a custom past date, so that a record reflects when the task actually reached that status rather than when it was updated in the LMS. This is useful for tasks completed offline, such as in-person training, that are recorded in the LMS at a later date.

Setting a Custom Completion Date

Follow these steps to mark a task Complete or Failed with a backdated date. Each task is updated individually for a specific User and enrollment.

  1. In the Admin Experience, open Reports and select the Tasks report.
  2. Filter the report by the Course name to find the relevant task.
  3. Click the line item for the User and enrollment you want to update.
  4. Click Manage from the Actions menu on the right-hand side.
