The Create Course feature allows you to create new content for your Users to engage with. To create new content, you will be using Absorb Create, a paid feature that is only accessible through the LMS when enabled and for User Accounts that hold a Create license. Only accounts that meet this criteria will have access to the Create icon in their LMS.

In this article, we will guide you through the basics of creating your first Course.

Accessing Absorb Create

With Absorb Create enabled in your LMS, and a Create license applied to your LMS account, you can access the Create Course page in two ways. The first is through the Create icon on the left-hand menu, and the second is through the Courses Report's Create Content button.

Through the Create Icon

If a Create license is assigned to your LMS account, the Create iconwill appear in your Admin Experience on the left-hand side menu. To access the Create Course page through the Create icon, follow these steps:

1. In the Admin Experience, select the Create icon on the left-hand side of the page.
   
   
2. In the opened menu, select Create Content. You will be redirected to the Absorb Create Course Creation Wizard to create a new Course.
   

Through the Courses Report

To access the Course Creation Wizard through the Courses Report, follow the steps below:

1. In the Admin Experience, select the Courses icon from the left-hand menu.
   
   
2. Select the Courses option from the Courses menu.
   
   
   
3. Under the Actions menu on the right-hand side, select Create Content. You will be redirected to the Absorb Create Course Creation Wizard to create your new Course.

How to Create a Course

To create a Course, you must be in Absorb Create. You can refer to the earlier sections on how to access Create. Once in Create, follow the steps below:

1. Click the Create button located in the header to open the Course Creation Wizard.
   
   
2. In the Course Creation Wizard, select a Theme.
   
   
   This will open a preview window and allow you to explore the Theme. You can use the left and right navigation arrows on each side of the preview window to move between different previews of the selected Theme.
   
   
   
   Custom Themes

   You can also choose the Start from scratch option to build your own Theme using the numerous Player Appearance settings. To use this option, scroll to the bottom of the Course Creation Wizard and select the Start from scratch Theme option. 3. Click the Use this theme button to select and apply the Theme to your Course.
   
   

4. Type the name of the project into the Enter your course title field.
   
   

5. Click the Continue button. You will be automatically redirected to the Absorb Create Course Editor and asked to create your first page.
   
   
   

6. From the Add Page window, select a slide from the Theme Templates. For example, you could select the Welcome slide.
   
   

7. Enter a name for the page in the Page name field.  This name will be visible to Learners in the course table of contents.
   
   

8. When ready, click the Continue button to create your page. Once the page is created, you will be automatically redirected to the course page editing space. From there you can either create additional pages or edit existing pages for your Course.
   
   
   

9. To add a page to your Course, click the Plus (+) button next to the course navigation drop down.
   
   
   

10. When you have finished adding pages to your Course, click the green Publish button in the top right corner to open the publishing modal.
    
    
    This modal contains two tabs to choose from:
    
    

    • Absorb LMS: Publish your Course directly to the LMS.
      
      
      
    • Download Content: Publish the Course as a file that can be downloaded immediately or at a later time.
      
      • Once the Course has been published as a file, it is available for download. You can return to the Download Content tab at any time after publishing the Course to download the file.
        
      • You can also choose to publish the Course in different formats, or modify the Course and republish the Course file. All published versions will be available in the Download Content tab.
