Overview
Course Ratings are a valuable tool which provides Learners the ability to add a 1-5 star rating to a Course. This feature will help you identify which Courses and Curricula are popular and where your Catalog has opportunities for improvement. This is especially valuable in an environment where Learners are choosing their own Courses, such as purchasing through E-Commerce or self-enrolling in an open Professional Development LMS environment. The benefit of Course Ratings compared to the similar feature Course Evaluations is that it is quick and easy for Learners to provide provide their feedback.
In this guide, you will learn how to report on the ratings your Learners have submitted.
Important FYI
- When Course Ratings are toggled off after they have been active, the reporting data will be inactive and no longer appear in the Course Ratings Report. Re-enabling Course Ratings will activate this data and it will reappear in your reports.
- Course Ratings can be updated by Learners. Since rating data is gathered per-enrollment, this will update the reported score and date rated in the existing entry of the Course Ratings Report.
Course Ratings Report
Once your learners have begun progressing through their courses and submitting ratings, you will want to report back on their responses. The Course Ratings Report will allow you to select the Course containing your rating and will display each individual rating along with the Course and User who has submitted the rating.
Navigating to the Report
You can view the Course Ratings Report in the Admin User Interface by navigating to the Courses tab and selecting Ratings.
Refining and Filtering the Report
Clicking on a rating in the report will provide the option to Message User, or Delete the rating.
The report allows you to filter ratings by Course Name, Course Type, Date Rated, First Name, ID, Last Name, or Rating. Click on the funnel icon and select from the options in the drop-down menu.
This report can be further refined by Courses that are part of a specific Curriculum or Bundle, or for Curricula that contain a specific Course. After making a selection from the drop-down list, you can search for and select courses from the field below the drop-down, and then click Refine.

Notes
- Fields that have an asterisk (*) symbol are included in the Report's default layout.
- Be mindful that opening a report may also bring up a favorite saved layout, or a shared default organizational report layout.
Data Column | Description |
Id | This column displays the unique identifier generated for this Rating by the LMS when the Course Rating is submitted. Each submitted rating has a unique Id value. |
Course Name* | This column displays the name of the Course that has been rated. |
Course Type | This column displays the type of Course that has been rated. The available options are Online Course or Curriculum. |
Last Name* | This column displays the Last Name of the Learner which has completed this Course Evaluation question. This value is populated from the User's Profile > Last Name field. |
First Name* | This column displays the First Name of the Learner which has completed this Course Evaluation question. This value is populated from the User's Profile > First Name field |
Username* | This column displays the Username of the Learner which has completed this Course Evaluation question. This value is populated from the User's Profile > Username field |
Rating* | This column displays the 1-5 rating which has been submitted by the Learner for this Course. |
Date Rated* | This column displays the date in which the Learner submitted their Rating for this Course. |
