Survey Learning Object

Introduction

Learning Objects are elements of Online Courses that contain training content, such as e-learning modules, videos, external links, surveys, etc.  The refreshed Absorb LMS Admin Experience  (AE) introduced three new Learning Object types to help you better organize, evaluate, and confirm training comprehension: Observation Checklist, E-Signature, and Use Existing.

Survey Learning Objects are used to collect learner sentiments and opinions. This article includes instructions on how to configure a Survey Learning Object.

 

Instructions: Add Survey Object

These instructions begin from an Online Course build's Syllabus Course Settings section.

  1. From the Add Online Course form, navigate to the Syllabus course setting section.
  2.  
  3. Click the Add Learning Object button. This action will open the Add Learning Object menu modal.
  4.  
  5. Click the radio button or icon for the Learning Object type Survey. Continue by clicking the Next button. The modal will update to the Add Survey form.
    • Note: The default selection is Object

  7. The Add Survey form contains multiple sections and fields. Follow these links for details on each section: Details, Options, Messages, and Questions.
  8.  
  9. When you are done configuring the Add Survey form, click the Save button. 
    • This action will save the entered information and create the new Survey Learning Object.
    • The modal will close, and you will return to the Add Online Course form.

Form Section: Details

Field  Details
Name Enter a Name to identify the Learning Object. The information entered is visible to Learners within the Learner Experience (LE) and administrators in the Admin Experience (AE). This is a required field.
Description Enter a Description to provide additional details about the Learning Object. The information entered is visible to Learners within the Learner Experience (LE) and administrators in the Admin Experience (AE).

 

Form Section: Options

Click the toggle buttons to adjust the state.  The default state for the following options is OFF.

Option Details
Allow Multiple Attempts Allow the user to attempt the learning object multiple times.
Randomize Question Order Questions are asked in random order.
Randomize Answer Order Answer options are displayed in random order.
Use Answer Based Actions Answers can trigger immediate actions upon selection.
Allow Scored Answers Allows you to provide feedback and actions based on ranges of total response points.
Single Page Layout Turning this option on will change the layout to a single page.
Show Navigation Show the navigation bar.

 

Form Section: Messages

You can configure two different Message states for Surveys: Introduction and Post Message.

Message Details
Introduction Message The text entered into the field is presented to Learners before they begin the Survey. 
Post Message The text entered into the field is presented to Learners after they complete the Survey. 

 

Form Section: Questions

The Questions section is where you configure Survey Questions.  Use the Add Question Group option to group questions together and organize the flow of the Survey.

Field / Button Details
Group Name The default value is Question Group 1
  Ask all questions = This is the default selection.
  Ask certain number of questions from group = This option is not available for Survey Learning Objects.
Manage Questions Click this button to open a new form to add and edit the Survey Questions. Click here for continued instruction.
Add Question Group Click this button to create an additional Question Group for the Survey.

 


Instructions: Manage Questions

  1. Click the Manage Questions button.  This action updates the modal to the Manage Questions form.

  3. Click the Add Question button. This action updates the modal to the Add Questions form. Click here for details on how to configure Survey Questions.

  5. When you are done configuring the Add Survey form, click the Apply button. 
    • This action will save the entered information and create the new Survey Learning Object.
    • The modal will close, and you will return to the Add Online Course form.

Form: Manage Questions

Field  Details
Questions The default state displays the following text: No questions have been addedOnce questions are added, this section will list the included items.
Add Question Click this button to add a Question to the Survey.

 

Form Section: Add Question

Field  Details
Question Enter the Assessment Question into the text field. The information entered is visible to Learners within the Learner Experience (LE) and administrators in the Admin Experience (AE). This is a required field.
Question Type Click the field to open a menu to select an option from.  The field's default selection is Free Form Inquiry.

*Only available with Free Form Inquiry Question Type
Click the field to open a menu to select an option from.  The field's default selection is Any Characters.

Answers
*Only available with Poll Single Answer and Poll Multiple Answer Question Types
Enter an Answer response in the text field provided.
Add Option/Answer Click this button to create additional Answer responses to the question.
Attachment Choose to upload a file or link out to content.  The default selection is File.
  File = Click the Choose File button to open a modal to upload a file. 
  URL = Enter the web address to the content you want to make available.
