Page Tab Title

This article explains whether Absorb LMS clients can customize the text that appears in the browser tab, what controls that text, and how to update it. It is intended for System Administrators managing their Portal.

Can I Set a Custom Browser Tab Title?

Absorb does not provide a dedicated field for typing a fully custom browser tab title. The tab title is generated automatically, and the only part you can control is your LMS Name. Updating LMS Name changes the organization name that appears in the browser tab across the Learner Experience.

What Determines the Browser Tab Title

The browser tab title is assembled from two parts: the name of the page the Learner is currently viewing, followed by your LMS Name. The page name is generated by the system and cannot be edited. The following table shows what controls each part:

Element

Description

Page Name Generated automatically from the page the Learner is viewing. This part is not configurable.
LMS Name Your organization name, set on the Info Tab of Portal Settings. This is the part you can change.

How to Update Your LMS Name

System Administrators can update the LMS Name from Portal Settings. To change the name that appears in the browser tab, follow these steps:

  1. In the Admin Experience, open Portal Settings.
  2. Click the Info Tab.
  3. In the LMS Name field, enter the name you want to appear in the browser tab.
  4. Save your changes.

LMS Name is also used in other areas of the LMS, such as dynamic text in Message Templates. Changing it updates the browser tab title and everywhere else the value appears, so choose a name that works in all contexts. For more detail on where this field lives, see Portal Settings Overview.

Browser Tab Title Compared to the Favicon

The browser tab title and the Favicon are two separate elements. The tab title is the text label, controlled by your LMS Name. The Favicon is the small icon shown next to that text, and it is configured separately as a branding image.

For guidance on setting the Favicon, see Department Templates: Settings Tab.
