Aura Learner Agent: Course Extraction

When Learners have questions about Course content, they can use the Aura Learner Agent to find answers. Before Aura can answer questions about a specific Course, that Course must be extracted for Aura. This process allows Aura's Knowledge Extractor to pull data from your lessons and files to build a searchable knowledge base. Admins control which Courses are extracted for Aura; Courses not selected for extraction will not be included.

In this article, we'll go over how to select Courses for extraction.

Configure Course Extraction for Aura

Courses can be extracted from the Courses Report in the Admin Experience. Admins can extract one or multiple courses for Aura

Extracting a Course for Aura consumes credits. For more information on the Aura credits system, see the Aura Credits System Overview article.

In the Admin Experience, follow these steps to extract courses:

  1. Click Courses in the left-hand menu.
  2. In the Courses Report, click on the Display Columns button at the top of the table. Enable the Available for Aura, Eligible for Aura, and Last Extraction Date fields. These indicate which Courses can be extracted for Aura, and when the last extraction took place.
  3. Select one or multiple eligible Courses to extract.
  4. In the Actions menu, click Extract for Aura
  5. On the Extract course content for use in Aura page, configure the Course content access rules. This option determines when a Learner can access the Course content. The available options are:
    • Completed: Access is restricted until the Learner completes the Course.
    • Always: the Learner can always access the Course content provided they have enrolled in the Course, or it is in their Catalog
  6. Click Save.

If you make changes to a Course, it must be extracted again for those changes to be reflected in Aura

When extraction is complete, Absorb sends a confirmation email with the following details:

  • Number of Courses processed.
  • Number of Courses successfully extracted with Course names.
  • Number of Courses partially extracted with Course names.

Partially extracted Courses contain a mix of extractable and non-extractable Lesson types. Only extractable Lesson types are included in the extraction.
