Downloading an Image Uploaded for a Tile

This article answers a common question for System Admins who customize Department Templates: after you upload an image to a Tile, can you download that image again? It explains where Tile images are stored and how to retrieve them from the File Manager.

Can I Download an Image I Uploaded to a Template Tile?

Yes. When you upload an image to a Tile while editing a Department Template, Absorb LMS adds that image to the File Manager, the same location where all media uploaded to your Portal is stored. Because the image lives in the File Manager, you can download it again at any time.

You do not need the original file from your computer. The uploaded copy remains available in the File Manager until it is deleted.

Where Do Template Tile Images Go After Upload?

Every image you add to a Tile is uploaded into your Portal's File Manager alongside other media assets, such as Course thumbnails and certificate images. The File Manager keeps a single stored copy that your Template references, so the same file can be reused, managed, or downloaded without uploading it again.

For a full overview of the File Manager and how uploaded files are organized, see File Manager & Visibility and New File Manager.

How Do I Download a Tile Image From the File Manager?

You can download a Tile image directly from the File Manager using the file's Option menu. Follow these steps:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the left-hand action bar to open the Setup menu.
  2. Click File Manager.
  3. Select a File Type, such as Image, or an Upload Type in the left filter panel to narrow the list.
  4. Locate the image you want to download.
  5. Hover over the file, then click its Option menu (the three-dot icon).
  6. Click Download.

The image downloads to your computer using its original file name.

Access Requirements

Only System Administrators can access Department Templates and the File Manager. If you do not see the File Manager under the Setup menu, confirm your Admin role includes the required permissions.
